Jim Silver is Professor and Chair of the University of Winnipeg’s Department of Urban and Inner-City Studies, located on Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg’s North End. He has been active in Winnipeg’s inner city for the past two decades—his latest endeavor is the redevelopment of the old Merchants Hotel into Merchants Corner, an exciting new educational complex. He has written extensively about Winnipeg’s inner city. His latest book, released in April 2016, is titled Solving Poverty: Innovative Solutions from Winnipeg’s Inner City.
